The Village Hall The Village Hall needs YOU Your Village Hall is in danger of closing.
This is not because of a lack of bookings, but currently we
have a lack of people to help run the Barnston Village Hall Management
Committee.
We are in need of new members of all ages, to assist us and bring new ideas and talents to the committee. No experience necessary.
We are not asking for a lot of your time as
meetings are bi-monthly, but we do desperately need the support and you may be
just the person we are looking for to join our friendly group of residents of
all ages.
The Committee is currently made up of a
Treasurer, Secretary, Bookings Clerk, Fundraising Representative and a Parish
Council Representative, as well as representatives from some regular hirers of
the Hall (ie., Brownies).
Our main remit is to oversee the funds and upkeep
of the hall, together with actively fundraising for a disabled toilet.
We employ a Booking Clerk/Maintenance Person who deals with the day to
day running of the hall. The hall is used on a regular basis by local our local Dance School, 1st Barnston Brownies, Bowls, WI and our local Parish Council. We also run a monthly Farmers Market, which is manned by Committee Members on a rota basis, meaning that each Committee Member helps with refreshments at the Market, once every 5 months.
We currently have a Treasure Hunt organised for
Sunday 6th July, which will include a BBQ and refreshments.
Plans are also in place for a Halloween Disco and
Race Nite in the Spring of 2009.
The Village Hall is one of the dwindling
community focal points of Barnston, and it needs representation for all walks of
life (or Barnston). It needs an
injection of new blood, and you may the the person to give it .......
Please contact Karen on 07834-751045 or visit the
Farmers Market on Saturday 24th May, where members of the committee
will be available for an informal chat.
